Greetings,

Am I right in saying that this next wednesday, the 12th, we are not gaming? It hasn't been updated on the site yet.

*tickles Tykeal*

heh. we need to figure out a semi-automated means of updating the Bright Star Campaign site w/ next session info...came here to ask if we were going tomorrow, as the site says the next session is 19-Jun, but read DMShoe's message above, so I don't have to ask, only have to poke... Wink

*sigh* so many things to do Wink

I agree that we need to get an automated system in place.

I have an old DB schema from way long ago (back when we were running phorum and then switched to phpBB 1.2) that was suppsed to help give us a more DB focused Campaign system.

Unfortunately that project fell by the wayside and I believe now that my initial thrust on it was all wrong as well.

If folks would like to help I think it would be a great way to improve not just the BS campaign, but other campaign sites would be hostable easily as well. My essential idea currently is more of a campaign portal that hooks directly into the forums here (shared user authorization system).

I have other ideas that go along with the whole thing as well. The thing is I need colaboration. I just am not likely to ever turn it out unless I have some help (especially with the planning and some of the implementation). It must be the "Ooo shiny thing" syndrome or something Wink

We've got a base of code that we can pull from as I think using the phpBB 2.x template system is a good way to go and their user auth system is also very tight. At least we wouldn't have to write it all from the ground up.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings and ideas... I've updated the BS Campaign site with info again. (reminder to self... set calendar alarm for adding this stuff regularly) Rolling Eyes

I seem to recall on some websites that I have visited that they sometimes have Calendars that are either linked or embedded into the pages that show what is going on in upcoming weeks. Is this the type of thing you already had in mind Tyke or was it something all together different. I was thinking that maybe it would just be easier to link to a calendar/organzier that would show which days in the month we would be gaming on. I wish I could remember what pages had them on it so I could paste it here. Off to dig now!!!!

Would this be something that we could use?

Please go to www.calendars.net to investigate.

Yes, I was thinking about putting a calendar into the sytem. No, I don't plan on linking to an external resource. I don't like that. It's me and my privacy wishes kicking in for something like that. Most of those "free" hosted calendars make you pay by sending a lot of spam, sorry that isn't for me. I get too much already.

I've looked at a few scripts that build out calendars, but that's just a small portion of what I have in mind and actually a fairly easy display one... getting all the automation in... that's much more interesting and requires some system scripts as well as web pages.
