The Kent Campaign takes place in the world referred to as Aldurian, though Aldurian is but one nation of many. Aldurian was first visted in a campaign many years ago, and other campaigns have journeyed far and wide, expanding the scope of the world.

The summaries of adventures, written by the players, may seem familiar to some, as most of the adventures were Dungeon Magazine adventures or D&D Modules adapted for the campaign world. The campaign so far has consisted of the following:

  • The Paintings of Palhandas A quick homegrown adventure to get started.
  • Demon Direbunny Dungeon Also referred to as "world's smallest module", this 3-post-it-note adventure will be fleshed out and submitted someday to Dungeon.
  • Gorgoldand's Gauntlet Dungeon adventure from Dragon Annual #5.
  • Forge of Fury Minimal modifications needed to this "Adventure Path" module.
  • Speaker in Dreams The background has been modified to fit a couple characters, but again a stock "Adventure Path" module.
  • The Standing Stone Once again, the Adventure Path scenarios add to the campaign. This adventure is used stock, with modification to the final chapters to accomodate the campaign goals.
  • Heart of Nightfang Spire is also used. The intro is changed, and the tower is set on an island near the shipping lane from the Pertinon Channel to Brunlaga. A mysterious stone set near the beach ties in the focus of the campaign. In the heart of the tower, upon defeating the vampire Gulthias, the heroes found the Candle of Intellect, one of the keys to destroying the Seals of Evil. Also they found a bas-relief depicting each of the keys.
  • After some much needed time off for rest and recuperation, the party received an urgent letter from Ru'Tallan requesting their immediate presence at his home in Warren's Crossing. Once there, they did not find the old sage, but instead clues that led them back to Lord Palhandas and then on a trail to the Swamp of Arlugal, a location-based adventure involving a keep at the center of a Shadow Swamp.

Ru'Tallan the Sage sent the newly christened Bright Star Company on a mission to find the items that can break the Seals of Evil. Five items are required, and each is marked with an arcane sigil. Once all five items are gathered, the Bright Star will find the Seals of Evil and destroy them, before they can be used to some nefarious purpose. The location of the Seals, however, remained a mystery.

The Bright Star Company was shipwrecked (but also found) on an island near Brunlaga. The tower they investigated held a key to the location of the Seals, but the tower was held by an insane vampire lord intent on raising his dark master Ashardalon. Only by defeating this dark lord was the Company able to uncover the location of the first of the artifacts they sought.

The Company found the Candle of Intellect deep within Nightfang Spire. The Mirror was found in the Swamp of Arlugal, along with some clues as to the nature of the other three marked items. Ominous signs included rumors of an army of Shadow massing somewhere, and the sage Ru'Tallan is still missing. Where would the party go next? To find the Sage? Track down the cloak or scepter? Investigate the strange fires in the hill giant hills? Help Varlan defeat the Green Wyrm marauding his forest? We will soon see.

New info added 5/13/03 Following the stories in this forum, one could easily track the Company of the Bright Star's progress as they obtained the Cloak of Flame and the Ring of Quickness.

After a failed attempt at rescuing Varlen, who had been captured by the green dragon, the party set off for the source of the Shadow army -- an ancient monastery only accessible by magical pathways, previously maintained by a monastic order and a group of goodly priests. The priests could use their ability to channel positive energy to hold open the portals that accessed the monastery's location. But the bearer of the Scepter of Night was able to determine that the pathways could also be opened by sacrificing an undead creature, such as a shadow. He sent his shadows out into the world, to create more shadows -- then with his winter wight and nightwalker allies he could strike out at any point in the world.

The exploration of the monastery and surrounding region inside the demiplane was adapted from the Lord of the Iron Fortress adventure by Andy Collins. The steel predators from that adventure (also now detailed in the Fiend Folio) were modified with the shadow template from Manual of the Planes. Additional encounters were added with a troubled banshee in the area around the monastic "fortress", and the climax of the adventure included an encounter with a depowered winter wight from the Epic Level Handbook. Ru'Talan was found imprisoned, and was also set free.

Once the party obtained all five items, it was time to destroy them, for the items they had obtained were indeed the Seals of Evil, and the means to destroy them all in one. Each item, when destroyed, set free the spirit bound to the item. But all five spirits had to be destroyed within a single day, to prevent the items from reforming. The battle was detailed here and here, and involved defeating in succession an advanced succubus, an advanced salamander noble, a marilith demon, a dark naga sorceress, and finally a nightwalker nightshade.

After the destruction of the artifacts, the Company took advantage of some well-earned downtime, and were then sent on a mission by Ru'Talan and the mysterious Hildebrandt to retrieve a mace of some importance. This has led to the current plight, and the adventures in the Demon God's Fane by Monte Cook.
