If there are no objections, I would like to post a recollection of the first half of this days events. I was thinking about doing it from the veiwpoint of a halfling rogue who followed and observed without being noticed.

If I am going to do this I will need to have some information that I don't remember. Since I will not have been part of the party, names will mean nothing to me. I will, however, need to know what races and classes everyone was.

If this isn't a desired project that is fine as well. I will be happy to share my notes with anyone else who may need them.

Shadow,

Let's see if this helps.

Milt=Human male Rogue (both times he died).
Katherine=Half-elven female Ranger.
Jesse=Elven female Rogeu/Monk.
Kevin=Elven female Monk (first death)
=Elven female Ranger/Cleric.
Steve=Dwarven male Rogue.
Andy=Elven male Cleric.
Steve "Player Slayer" Schubert=Human male Dungeonworld Power.

I believe that these are the correct races, genders, and classes. If I have made an error please post it guys.

Good luck!!!

-Raz

Player Slayer?

What kind of wussy ass rogue are you milt??? You died twice? My god...even Burne didn't do that. It's not like you guys were fighting behir or slaads or things like that. Speaking of which...what did you guys fight anyway?

Of course, the kicker is, the rogue didn't fall to the behir. the first one fell to the slaads because he was too impatient to be healed to a reasonable level before rejoining combat (no, Raz, 6hp is not reasonable when you're going against stuff that has knocked you unconscious when you had more hp...)

the second one fell valiantly setting up flanking attacks (the two rogues were alternating trying to tumble _through_ a drider blocking a doorway, and Max made it first) -- without his efforts, the combat might still be running. When he fell, Barengar tried every round to tumble through the drider, to no avail (missing by one really hurts, sometimes...), and by the time the drider was slain, Max had succumbed to his wounds...

the really amusing bit was that these were both replacement characters for the one that Raz misplaced before the session began...

btb...I think it would be great to see the story from an outside observer's perspective, Shadowlord...

Did you have a good time/have some of your questions answered? Any questions that weren't answered that we can start working on?

I really did enjoy myself. I want to thank you all for such a good time. Most of my questions were answered through observation. The book does a good job of explaining the mechanics of the game, but I really had to see it in action to understand the flow.

I really look forward to getting involved with a group now. Granted, due to size it may not be your group. But something should turn up somewhere.

I also posted my story. The viewpoint is that of an evil halfling rogue. Keep in mind that this is my first creative writing effort in 15 years. Please be gentle on your critiques. Wink

Just a note (since we've got this topic already going). The spelling is slaad not slaag. Think salad just move the l over Wink

By the by, a quick link over to the story is here

Obviously you didn't know them as well as I did. Wink Thanks for the heads up on that. I wrote it as I heard it. Eventually I'll pick up a DMG and Monster Guide. Sorry about the race mix up on Grayson. I already had it written when I saw the correction. Besides, the lighting was poor and I called it as I saw it. Wink

Humyn??? Femyle??? Is someone dyslexic or is this some fascist crap????

When will people learn to stop living by labels. We are human, as in humanity. Changing the spelling is just pretentious bullshit.

Maybe I should be doing this in the general forum....

Easy, Robin..

Looks like you guys already caught the slaag thing. Felt like expectorating every time I read the word.

And it seems that female monks have a habit of appearing male... First Ember, then Grayson. At least penelope was chick-like.

Mmm. Chiclets.

Only other thing -- after the search checks on the slaad, I don't think anyone would have missed a silver coin, let alone a pearl. (although I think most of the silver coinage was left due to weight.) Those pesky adventurers probably looked into every orifice for loot.

(I just had an idea of where my next wizard NPC will store his/her Pearls of Power.)

Okay. Perhaps eating the whole tin of Penguin Mints was not a good idea. It's possible that it has made me slightly edgy. I'll concede that. Let's see...3 mints = 1 can of Coke for caffeine. How many mints are in the tin...75ish. Okay. So...it's like I just had eight cups of coffee. Maybe that is a tad high.

Now that EVERYONE wants to kill me over the Slaad thing (I spelled it right, see?). Wink

I included the pearl thing for 2 reasons. 1) I didn't recall a search on all 3 slaads, and 2) I kinda needed it for the story line. No offense intended to the DM.

For those who are wholly distressed by the slaag/slaad greivous error, I have edited out the g's in place of d's.

My humblest apologies. Now will you please back away from my home with those torches?
Smile

Don't feel bad about the Slaad/slaag thing. You have a speech impediment that only manifests itself when describing fierce amphibians of a fantastic nature, showing itself in a dyslexic extrapolation of keymappings. It's no great shame.

Or, you need Q-Tips.

Either way, neural-educational disorder or personal hygiene issues, welcome to the group.

Are you trying to tell us that it needs an exotic weapon proficiency??? Wink

I'm gonna have to second Locksley's comments on the misspellings of human and female.

it's (American) English, not PCish. Deal.

and i'm curious...how many of the players who routinely play female characters actually think about how a female would react in the situations? a lot of what I perceive looks like female is just a descriptor added to differentiate from the norm -- maybe this is a tangent for a new topic?

I know that females are supposed to be equal to males in all respects within the game, however, I was unable to tell who was playing what after the introductions were done.

This is not meant as a critisism but rather as an observation.

Absolutely! Smile Bastards have their own sets of rules for being killed and waving a sword in their face just doesn't cut the mustard. Wink

"Just the mustard"? oh-master-of-the-short posts?

I never heard of justing the mustard. Is that like jousting?

Folks...take heed. This boy has been on here since May 26 and has 22 posts already. The boy wants to outstrip the Dragons Three.
And he hasn't even PLAYED yet. Wink
